CLIMATE

Due to the geographic position , a large area of the province is under the effect of cold and droughty east Anatolion climate, on the other hand some places exhibit more humid and rainy Black Sea clamatic propertie.this geographic properties does not exist in aliy other place in Anatolia.
Now that Soganli Monuntains, Which encircle the northern boundaries of Bayburt Plain, block the passage of moist and rain carrying clouds of Blacksea to the south by forming a natural terrace, the rain content of the region is far from being satisfying.Altough Only in spring, the province gets rain over the season normals, the Bayburt plain is the most productive one in North East Anatolia (except for Pasinler Plain)

The Bayburt plain Encircled with the mountains and divided by the branchs of river of çoruh, is approximately 900km2 and composed of four important zones. The Mormus Plat in the west,Aydintepe plain in the north.Düzekâr Plain locating in Değirmencik region in the north east and Keçevi flat m the south east have elevations about 1500-1700.

                                                        THE FAUNA AND FLORA

The flora of Bayburt is similar with the flora of Erzurum,Erzincan and Gümüşhane. They exhibit climatic properties of the of the region they are belonged to.
Evcept for the forests laying in the southand south east regions of Gümüshane and Trabzon’s teritorial boundaries, the frost residues laying on the inclines of mountains and on higher places in the regions of Erzurum.Erzincan and Bayburt

prove that the frosts had been destroyed by the human being since very early ages.
Dowm to the valley of çoruh,in Yusufeli and Ispir, pihe forests are met.IN spring, mountains, plains and high plateaus are covered by grass including many kinds os flowers. Now that the until mid-summer flora due tto the lack of rain and abundenay of domestic animal herds, Bayburt plain shows properties of a steppe in its general appearance.

It is true to say that the high mountains around Bayburt are continuously eroded due to the fact thet the of the region having these negative properties Gümüshane and Bayburt are said to be poor of fauna living in this region.
